Edgefield and the outlets in Troutdale
Two things draw people off the interstate in Troutdale: a historic property and the shopping.
Edgefield, a historic landmark
Wikipedia describes Edgefield as a 38-acre former county poor farm on the National Register of Historic Places, now a hotel and entertainment property. Its own site says it was built in 1911 as the county poor farm. See the official Edgefield site for the property itself.
Shopping
Explore Troutdale, the visitor center's site, describes two shopping areas. One is an outdoor outlet mall across the interstate from the airport, with national brands. The other is downtown, where small businesses sell gifts and home goods, along with boutiques and antique shops. We name no stores here. The City of Troutdale keeps a business list and the visitor center keeps current shopping information.
